A favorite this year. Picking Petals pattern by Taunja Kelvington using Hope Chest 2 fabrics from Penny Rose was easy to stitch up in a day. Get this kit or pattern in the shop with FREE SHIPPING in December! On a side note, I am often asked about the stitching on this mini quilt.

This is how I achieve this hand quilted look on my machine:

1) I use my walking foot on my sewing machine
2) I use our 75/11 Quilting needle by Schmetz and set the tension at 2.0
3) On my Bernina 560 I chose stitch #1328 in the quilting stitches. Other stitch options I have for this are #1347, #1348. On other Bernina models I think #1350 may also be an option
4) Through the needle I use our Mono Poly thread by Superior. In the bobbin I use my favorite Aurifil color of choice for the day. I know, mixing of Superior and Aurifil! Shocker! Here in farm country that is as bad as trying to put a John Deere corn head on a International combine. Trust me, quilters, it can be done! :)  The lovely end result is that your bobbin thread pulls up just enough to show through as stitching and appears almost as if you have hand quilted your mini quilt.  Below is a close up of the hand quilted look.
