My place to relax is at my sewing machine. Therefore, my family usually gets me something sewing related for gifts. Oh, there's just something so sweet about opening a package of fabric, a little box of notions or a new quilt pattern book. I just get lost in ideas of what I will create. So a year ago when my kids gave me the fabric to start this Great Granny Squared quilt I was super excited! I had only been a serious quilter for about 6 months at that point. The idea of taking on this quilt project felt a little like a trip to the moon for me. I really didn't know if I would ever get there! I didn't use any pre-cuts because I didn't know that was an option. Honestly, I didn't know what they were or how to use them. Jellyrolls and I would have been best friends in this quilt because it uses masses of 2 1/2 inch squares. As it turns out, it wasn't a scary quilt to make after all. It was actually a lot of fun and I want to make another one again. Soon. This time around I am using a Jellyroll though! If you would like to try this quilt also, the pattern can be found in my store in the book Great Granny Squared by Lori Holt for It's Sew Emma. Happy Sewing!
